What is the Craft Shop?
A pop-up store that promotes the creativity and imagination of its visitors.

Due to the recent rise of fast fashion, more and more clothing is ending up in landfills. People are buying clothes to accommodate trends, not for practicality. Here at Depop, we believe that your clothes define you and show who you are, and because of that, we are trying to combat fast fashion with our community-based marketplace.
However, we have found that we are not immune to the fast fashion problem. More and more of our community is listing fast fashion items on our website and charging large amounts for them. We've even noticed a small group of people cutting off these fast fashion labels and labelling these low-quality clothes as "vintage." This completely goes against our aims, and we've been thinking long and hard about different solutions to this problem.
The Depop craft shop is a pop-up event that will be going around the UK, promoting sustainable second-hand fashion. At this shop you get to choose different items of clothing and combine them to create something entirely new. This means you can get personalised fashion that fits your exact style while being good to the environment while also helping to reduce the amount of fast fashion on Depop and in charity shops, and with 50% of profits going to charity, how could you say no!
The Process:
The Depop Upcycle Project will be travelling through the UK from the North of England going south. During this pop-up event Depop bins will be scattered through the city as an easy spot to donate any clothes you no longer wear, you can also donate in-store. Upon purchasing a ticket you can pick out clothes and fabric that you wish to use in your project, and after your selection, you can begin to create something new. You can take different parts from the clothing you have selected to upgrade your wardrobe, with any scraps you leave behind going back into the swap as scrap material. After you have finished, you will now have a personalised item of clothing that you can add to your wardrobe.

Getting your Ticket
You can get tickets to the event by purchasing them in the "Tickets" section of our website.
What kind of clothes will be there?
We are unable to fully say what clothes are going to be at the pop-up as they will come from donations and charity shop overflow. If you'r looking for certain styles, follow our Instagram account to stay updates with the shop and the types of clothes that can be found there.
If you come to the craft and find an item of clothing you really like and don't want to use for parts you can also buy it for a cheap price to take home with you. Clothing will be individually priced outside of the initial ticket price, so please be aware of this before you buy a pre-made item.
Fast Fashion
Clothes from fast fashion brands have a high possibility of appearing in the event. This is because the clothing at the event will include overflow from charity shops and donations and we expect that many out-of-trend fast fashion items will appear as a result. We want to emphasise to our members that this isn't a bad thing, as by coming to the craft shop they avoid going to landfill. This type of clothing can be good for parts rather than a piece, and their cheaper material means you don't have to feel guilty for cutting them up and turning them into something new.
